A jib crane was manufactured for a company manufacturing agricultural equipment spare parts

Specialists of the Kyiv Crane Machinery Plant LLC designed and manufactured a large-sized jib crane for one of the Ukrainian enterprises producing spare parts for agricultural machinery.

The main objective of this crane equipment is to extract the blanks from the furnace for heat treatment of metal. The maximum size of the basket in which the workpieces are placed is not more than 4.5 meters; accordingly, the crane needs a lifting height of not more than 6.0 meters.

Due to the very high temperature in the vicinity of the workpieces, it was quite dangerous to use a manual rotation mechanism. Therefore, a project was developed and a mechanical assembly for turning the console was made. Also, special attention was paid to the control mechanism, for the convenience and safety of the crane operator, a double Festoon was installed with the possibility of separate operation of the pendant console from the hoist.

During the design and manufacture of this console crane, the Customer was provided with all the necessary dimensions of the crane base for its possible connection with the anchors of the existing foundation.

The main parameters of the console crane:

  • carrying capacity - 2.0 t;
  • console outreach - 6.5 m;
  • lifting height - 6.0 m;
  • cargo lifting speed - 4.0 / 1.3 m/min;
  • hoist speed - 20.0 m/min;
  • console rotation speed - 5 rpm.

An electric chain hoist manufactured by Podem (Bulgaria) is used as a lifting mechanism. Current lead to the hoist - cable type Festoon. Also, to ensure additional safety, limit switches for lifting and lowering the hoist and limit switches for moving the hoist and crane are installed.

After the installation and commissioning works, the installation team in the presence of the Customer’s representatives conducted static and dynamic tests, which confirmed the reliability and safety of the crane equipment. Properly executed technical and permissive documentation helped seamlessly obtain permission to operate a new crane in the state supervisory authority.
